Hi, I'm Richard Abima!

I’m a Cinematographer and Visual storyteller based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I am happily married to my best friend and business partner Amber Abima. Am originally from Uganda , Amber is from Iowa. We met on a safari and fell in love over FaceTime and night calls whilst living 8000 miles apart.

Amber and I both share a deep love for travel, intrigue and adventure. We are dreamers, doers, believers and try to find the good in all things. When I’m not running around with a camera in one hand and a gimbal in the other, I am either watching a basketball game or spending some quality time with my wife and helping support her wild obsession with flowers and gardening.

One of my main passions in life is to capture experiences and tell stories, That is the reason why I started WhitePeak Films. I wanted to create a brand that would be able to capture emotions and express beautiful stories that can touch and impact lives. With my background in Documentary Filmmaking, I believe that stories are the most direct paths to our imaginations, emotions and realities. If we only slowed down for a bit, looked around and tried to notice the beauty that surrounds us from another perspective, we would definitely go a long way in making our world a better place.

Our style roots from my journey and experiences through life, Thats why we always try to implement an intentional, authentic and personal approach to video production!

Whitepeak Films was a joy to work with. They met with us weeks before the wedding to hear what specific things we wanted and gave advice on timing of events of the wedding day. They were at the venue early in the morning and stayed until the end of the Reception. They were very professional but very friendly and easy to work with. We were given two videos. The Wedding Feature video of the whole event and a short Film. The short video was exceptional...it was a beautiful snapshot of the whole event that captured the joy and emotion of the wedding. It looked like a high class movie. We were very impressed with the company and with the videos.
